Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is an online-only action role-playing video game developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. The sequel to Tom Clancy's The Division (2016), it is set in a near-future Washington, D.C., in the aftermath of the release of a genetically engineered virus known as "Green Poison" and follows an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division as they try to rebuild the city. The game was released for Microsoft WindowsPlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 15th, 2019.

As early as 2020, some players had already leaked some in-game screenshots of the highly localized Chinese version of The Division 2, and there were also rumors suggesting that the same company would be publishing it in the Chinese region again, with some of the gore and violent content removed.

It's no coincidence that Rainbow Six Siege has also tried to officially enter the Chinese market by adjusting the skulls, dead bodies and horror elements in the game. Of course, the fact that the Chinese government still bans Rainbow Six Siege live streams proves that this negotiation was not that successful.
