On Dec 3rd, Volcano Engine, a business-oriented tech-service platform from TikTok’s owner ByteDance, and China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group (CMGE) held a ceremony to celebrate their new strategic cooperation aiming to establish an ecosystem together and create a new business cooperation model based on a digital platform.

CMGE is a leading IP-adapted game company in China and holds the adaption rights of many famous IPs such as ONE PIECE, Douluo Continent, and Dynasty Warriors.

In a statement, CMGE said that it will conduct in-depth cooperation with Volcano Engine in fields such as big data algorithms, AI agents, and virtual reality, thus increasing its operational efficiency and players' gaming experience.

With the data and service of Volcano Engine, CMGE plans to better utilize its huge IP resources and the players for its IP-adapted games to achieve greater user value and consumer loyalty. The two parties will also create a more innovative marketing strategy for IPs and IP-adapted games and empower more new brands to improve their brand value.

This is not the first cooperation of ByteDance and CMGE. In April, CMGE and NUVERSE, the game studio owned by ByteDance jointly launched a mobile game based on the IP of ONE PIECE. The game ranked first on the App Store free list and third on the App Store best-seller list. Additionally, a series of games backed by CMGE has gained popularity with the support of the Ocean Engine, an advertisement platform launched by ByteDance.

On the website of Volcano Engine, ByteDance claimed that the engine would help game industry clients utilize data to empower business operation, improve decision-making efficiency and reduce costs. The engine will also combine data from TikTok and other ByteDance Apps with gaming scenarios to achieve a reproducible player growth method.

Before its launch in June 2021, Volcano Engine had already won popularity in diverse industries, gaining corporate clients such as e-commerce giant JD.com, smartphone manufacturer Vivo and automaker Geely.
