Nintendo released its financial results for Q1 2022-23 fiscal year (April 1, 2022, to June 30, 2022) on August 2. Sales for the quarter were down 4.7% year-over-year to 307.460 billion JPY (2.3081 billion USD), and operating profit was down 15.1% year-over-year to 101.647 billion JPY (763.018 million USD). Cumulative Nintendo Switch sales as of the end of June 2022 were 111.08 million units and 863.59 million copies of software.
Nintendo stated that the decline in hardware sales in this quarter is mainly due to the shortage of semiconductor components, a problem that is expected to improve gradually in the period from late summer to autumn.
