Vice president of Netflix’s games studio Amir Rahimi announced today that they are establishing an internal games studio in Helsinki, Finland. The studio aims to produce a variety of delightful and deeply engaging original world-class games for Netflix users around the world. Amir also emphasized that the games will contain no ads or in-game purchases.
In fact, this is not the first time Netflix has started a games studio. Earlier this year, Netflix fully acquired Next Games, which developed two mobile Walking Dead series games in 2015. The newly established studio will work together along with Next Games and two other games studios to create quality works that suit the diverse taste of Netflix users.
In the end, Amir stated that the games studios would build from scratch, and that it will probably take years for them to release their own works, but the studios will begin steadily building the foundation and sharing what they produce in the coming years.
