On December 8, the Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against Microsoft to block its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The commission believes that Microsoft's acquisition would suppress competition from rival consoles.
The lawsuit
The FTC concluded that Microsoft's control of Activision Blizzard could hinder competition by making its popular games less enjoyable to play on rival platforms, restricting access to content, or stopping support for rival platforms.
Microsoft CEO Brad Smith thinks otherwise, stating that the Activision Blizzard acquisition would help expand competition and benefit gamers and game developers.
