“AMERICA NEEDS A SUPERHERO! I will be making a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT tomorrow.”

That was the tagline that former US President Donald Trump put out on Truth Social to promote his new business, and the day after this was posted, he announced a "big decision" - the release of an NFT digital collection featuring his image and a superhero theme.

From a laser-eyed Superman-style Trump to a Western cowboy holding a shotgun, you can acquire the former president in a variety of different looks in this set of NFTs.

Each NFT was priced at 99 USD, and a total of 45,000 digital trading cards were issued in the initial edition. In addition, anyone who collects all 45 NFTs will get a chance to have dinner with Trump.

The official website also set up a lottery for promotion, and of course, the final rewards revolve around Trump himself, such as a "video call with Trump", "golf with Trump",  and “join a wine party with Trump.”

After only 12 hours, all 45,000 cards were snapped up at 99 USD each, raising more than 4 million USD. At the time of writing, the floor price of each Trump NFT is about 0.19 ETH, or about 230 USD, which is more than double the original price.

NFT INT LLC, the company behind the collection, has stated that the money raised through the NFTs will not be going to the 2024 reelection campaign. Instead, they paid a licensing fee to use Trump’s name, likeness and image. With the apparent success of this NFT collection, it is distinctly possible we will see Trump release more in the future.

The move left many confused about what Trump was trying to accomplish or how it could have a positive impact on his reelection campaign. The American comedy duo HodgeTwins gave their own assessment of the matter:
