Capcom recently published an end-of-year survey asking players about the upcoming games they are looking forward to in the new year. However, Xbox fans quickly realized that the Microsoft platform was completely ignored by Capcom.

In the survey, there’s a multiple choice question asking players how they like to purchase games, and Capcom has listed nearly all the available options, including PS Store, PS Store via web browser, Nintendo eShop, Nintendo APP, Steam, digital download card, PIN code, IRL game store, only omitting the Xbox option.

It looks like Capcom has put Xbox and Microsoft Store into the “Other" section, but when players select "Other", there is not even a text box that pops up for them to type in.

With such a strange omission in the survey, many Xbox players were confused, and after not receiving any further explanation from Capcom, a massive debate was quickly set off on Twitter between players.

“It’s probably because Xbox users just don’t buy games”“It’s probably because Xbox users just don’t buy games”

Some players believe that Xbox players only subscribe to the XGP membership and never buy games, leading to weak sales of Xbox Store games, and this investigation is a signal that Capcom and Microsoft are parting ways. They also believe that this trend will continue to intensify in the future, and for Japanese developers, the Xbox Store will no longer be the main way to sell games. Xbox players will have to rely on the game pass membership to experience the latest Japanese titles.

They further cited when Capcom asked players about upcoming games’ popularity in the survey, the launch platform of PRAGMATA and Dragon's Dogma 2, which were supposed to be available on all platforms, were inexplicably hidden. Some suggest that the two games might become time-limited exclusives and will not launch on the Xbox platform initially.

Of course, Xbox players are unlikely to endorse these arguments, and many think it's a stigma to blame official behavior on the idea that "Xbox users don’t buy games”. Besides, Capcom games on Xbox are in full swing, Monster Hunter: Rise has been confirmed to be one of the first games to launch on XGP in 2023.

As of now, players have been quarreling about this incident for a week, but Capcom has still not made any official response.

Nevertheless, the survey is not all bad news for players; at least Capcom fans now know for sure that PRAGMATA and Dragon' Dogma 2 are really under development.
