Uma Musume Pretty Derby
Konami Digital Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against Cygames, a subsidiary of CyberAgent, claiming that the game Uma Musume Pretty Derby infringes upon certain patent rights held by the company. Konami is seeking damages of around 29.2 million USD and an injunction against the production, usage, and provision of the game.
Uma Musume Pretty Derby is a simulation game featuring horse girls who have inherited the names of popular racehorses. Cygames has been in discussions with Konami regarding patent rights, but the two parties have not reached an agreement, resulting in the lawsuit.
It is unclear which patents are at the center of the case, but CyberAgent believes that Cygames has not infringed on Konami's patents and will clarify its legality through its response to the case.
