James Gunn has announced the actors who will portray Superman and Lois Lane in his upcoming film, Superman: Legacy. Corenswet and Brosnahan were among six actors who auditioned for the lead roles, with Nicholas Hoult, Tom Brittney, Emma Mackey, and Phoebe Dynevor also considered. Playing Superman/Clark Kent and Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane is a significant responsibility, especially as DC aims to reinvent itself following recent underperforming films.

Superman: Legacy is set to release on July 11, 2025, with filming expected to begin early next year. Gunn and Safran are also searching for actors to portray Lex Luthor and The Authority superheroes, who will debut in Legacy before getting their own film.

This project marks a major career move for Corenswet, as he takes on the leading role in a studio film for the first time. Brosnahan, an Emmy and Golden Globe winner for her work on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, brings her talent and acclaim to the role of Lois Lane. The previous actors to portray Lois Lane on the big screen include Margot Kidder, Kate Bosworth, and Amy Adams.

Gunn, who has a personal connection to the Superman character, expressed his excitement about the project, comparing himself to the iconic superhero. Superman: Legacy will be the first film fully produced under Gunn and Safran's leadership, as they work to revamp the DC universe.
