"JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood" Musical Reveals Cast and Storyline

TOHO has lifted the curtain on its upcoming stage adaptation of "JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood," set to run from February to April 2024 in Japan. Key visuals of the cast in their iconic costumes have been unveiled, along with a summary of the story and comments from the cast.

Yuya Matsushita and Shotaro Arisawa will step into the role of Jonathan Joestar, the noble heir to the Joestar family. Mamoru Miyano is set to play Dio Brando, the conniving antagonist, and adoptive brother to Jonathan. Additional cast members include Miisha Shimizu as Erina Pendleton, Jonathan’s love interest, and YOUNG DAIS as Robert E. O. Speedwagon, a reformed criminal turned ally. The cast also features Yoshihisa Higashiyama and Yusuke Hirose as Will A. Zeppeli, Jonathan’s mentor, along with Yamato Kochi and Jumpei Shimada playing key roles in Dio’s villainous plans.

The storyline centers around a mysterious Stone Mask, originally from Mexico, setting off a tumultuous chain of events. Dio seeks to usurp Jonathan's life and inheritance, leading Jonathan to a perilous journey to master the Ripple Technique under the guidance of Zeppeli. With allies like Speedwagon by his side, Jonathan seeks to confront Dio, who has amassed an army of evildoers, including the likes of Jack the Ripper.

The cast is enthusiastic about bringing this tale to life. Matsushita expressed his honor in portraying Jonathan Joestar in such an iconic series, while Miyano aims to embody the terrifying yet charismatic nature of Dio Brando. The stage is set for this epic showdown between good and evil, promising fans a thrilling, live-action rendition of a beloved classic.
