The highly-anticipated live-action film adaptation of Satoru Noda's manga, Golden Kamuy, has finally opened its official website, unveiling not only a trailer but also the cast, visual, staff, and its premiere date of January 19. Directed by Shigeaki Kubo and produced by CREDEUS, the movie boasts a stellar ensemble featuring Kento Yamazaki as Saichi Sugimoto and Anna Yamada as Asirpa, among others. Hiroshi Nakagawa and Debo Akibe are credited for Ainu cultural supervision.

Golden Kamuy, which ended its manga run in April 2022, began in 2014 in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine. Viz Media has been releasing the English version. It's a tale of a Russo-Japanese War veteran who stumbles upon a map to hidden Ainu gold, kickstarting a treacherous, life-threatening quest.

The manga had been adapted into an anime series, with its first season premiering in 2018. Crunchyroll streamed the episodes as they aired in Japan, while Funimation provided an English dub. A hiccup occurred in the anime's fourth season due to the unfortunate passing of an essential staff member, causing a brief halt. However, it resumed in April 2023. Fans will be pleased to know that the anime's final arc has been green-lit, giving multiple platforms for this gripping story to be told.
