Sabotage Studio's "Sea of Stars", an indie RPG and a prequel to their action-platformer "The Messenger", has hit the ground running by selling 100,000 copies on its first day. What sets this feat apart is its simultaneous availability on both Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra—a first in gaming history. The news was officially broadcast via the game's Twitter account, expressing gratitude and confirming that the sales figure did not account for the additional players accessing it through subscription services on PlayStation and Xbox.

The game follows heroes Valere and Zale as they utilize solar and lunar powers to thwart an evil alchemist. Inspired by iconic JRPGs like "Chrono Trigger and Breath of Fire", "Sea of Stars" was born out of a successful 2020 Kickstarter campaign and has steadily built up a dedicated fanbase.

While the game exists in the same universe as "The Messenger", it diverges significantly in gameplay, offering a turn-based RPG experience compared to the latter's side-scrolling action. Nevertheless, it maintains the unique charm that made the studio's initial title a hit. Rave reviews prior to its launch anticipated the game's success, with some critics placing it on a pedestal with the classics that inspired it.
