Falcom Announces New Trails Game for 2024, Alongside Robust Fiscal Plans
Nihon Falcom, the revered game developer, has unveiled plans for a new installment in the Trails series, set for release in the Fiscal Year ending September 2024. This announcement was part of Falcom's latest financial report, which also detailed strategies for the company's growth and diversification across various gaming platforms.
The upcoming Trails game, part of a series that has sold over 7 million copies globally, is a highlight of Falcom's Fiscal Year forecast. The report, translated by Ryuji from the team, outlines several key strategies and releases, including the launch of two Nintendo Switch games in Japan. Among these is "The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki," adding to Falcom's robust portfolio on the Switch platform.
Falcom's plan includes a focus on actively utilizing their IP content, with a special emphasis on the Ys and Trails series. The second half of the fiscal year is anticipated to be particularly significant for the company, coinciding with the launch of these new products.
The report indicates substantial development costs, attributed to the expansion of their title lineup and the creation of new IP content and games. Additionally, Falcom is set to enhance its presence in the global market, promoting multi-platform development across home video game consoles, PCs, and smartphones, including in overseas regions.
The Western release of "The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak" is also eagerly awaited. Set in the aftermath of the Erebonia war, this eleventh mainline entry in the Trails series features protagonist Van Arkride, a Spriggan in the economically thriving but politically tense Republic of Calvard. The game introduces a new combat system, the revamped AT Battle system, and an Alignment system influencing various game aspects.
Scheduled for a Summer 2024 release in the West, "Trails through Daybreak" will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Fans of the series can look forward to a Limited Edition and pre-order merchandise for this upcoming title.
