"Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl" Nears Completion, Targets Q1 2024 Release

GSC Game World has announced that "Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl," the highly anticipated sequel in the Stalker series, is nearing the end of its development and is set for release in the first quarter of 2024.

The studio recently unveiled a new trailer titled "Strider Trailer," showcasing the game's eponymous character. The trailer concluded with a teaser indicating a "Q1 2024" release window. While a specific release date was not provided, there is speculation that it could be announced at The Game Awards 2023, scheduled for December 7.

Yevhen Grygorovych, CEO of GSC Game World, shared insights into the game's development during the PC Gaming Show. He described "Stalker 2" as the "biggest and most complex game" in the studio's history, noting its evolution into an "ultimate challenge." The game holds deep personal significance for the team, having been developed under highly stressful conditions, particularly due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Initially planned for a 2022 release, "Stalker 2" faced multiple delays due to the war's impact and cybersecurity issues, including email hacks. Despite these challenges, GSC Game World has persevered in bringing the project to fruition.

"Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl" will be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S, with its inclusion in Game Pass at launch. The game reportedly will have a three-month exclusivity period on Xbox platforms.
