Disney is venturing into uncharted territory with its latest release, "A Is for Alien: An ABC Book," a children's book based on Ridley Scott's 1979 horror film "Alien." Targeting a surprisingly young audience, the book is set to hit shelves on July 9, 2024, and is already available for pre-order at $5.99.

Marketed as a "space adventure" introducing the alphabet from A to Z, this illustrated book presents a light-hearted take on the classic sci-fi horror. The cover art intriguingly features a cartoon Sigourney Weaver, as Ripley, smiling beside a Xenomorph. Published by Little Golden Books and illustrated by the Disney Storybook Art Team, "A Is for Alien" has shot up to the top of Amazon's New Release chart among Children's Science Fiction Books.

Little Golden Books, known for its diverse range of titles from "Star Wars" to biographies of famous personalities, now adds a unique, if not slightly bewildering, title to its collection. While capturing the essence of Giger's surreal art, this book might raise eyebrows with its unusual blend of child-friendly storytelling and classic horror imagery.

This release coincides with the premiere of a new "Alien" movie, set to release on August 16, 2024, starring Cailee Spaeny and Isabela Merced. However, despite the child-centric book, the movie, in keeping with the franchise's tradition, is unlikely to be suitable for a toddler audience.
