The Day Before, a PC-only shooter and one of Steam’s most wishlisted titles of 2023, has officially ceased operations barely a month and a half post-launch. Following its release, the game faced a series of controversies and operational challenges, leading to its ultimate shutdown on January 22.

Developer Fntastic, which closed its doors soon after the game's release, has now turned off the servers, rendering The Day Before unplayable. The game's website and official Twitter account have also become inactive, and the game itself has been removed from Steam.

This zombie survival MMO by Fntastic encountered numerous issues from the outset. It was initially pulled from Valve’s distribution platform due to trademark issues, causing a nine-month delay. Even after its eventual launch on December 7, 2023, the game was plagued with game-breaking bugs, glitches, and other technical problems.

As the game's servers shut down, its publisher, Mytona, removed any mention of The Day Before from its website and promised refunds for players requesting them. This shutdown adds to the growing number of game closures and industry layoffs, marking a trend of consolidation and retraction in the gaming world.
