Today, the Chinese indie game development studio, HeartBeat Plus, has created a new Steam store page for their upcoming thriller game, Dark Notes. HeartBeat Plus was famous for its Chinese folk horror game series Paper Bride, and now they are ready to bring a modern horror story to their fans and players.
The haunted mall
The new game Dark Notes tells the adventure story of two close friends exploring an abandoned shopping mall. In the game, players will play as both protagonists to reveal the secrets in the mall from different perspectives, locations and even timelines. The game uses a fragmented narrative; players need to play through the stories of the two characters to piece together the information and eventually escape this haunted mall.
Unlike the previous Paper Bride series focusing on folklore stories, HeartBeat Plus has put lots of effort into the puzzle-solving gameplay in Dark Notes. Players need to pay full attention to every detail in the game to solve the puzzles under the suspenseful atmosphere and the unexpected twists and turns of the story. HeartBeat Plus also stated that they would make the overall graphical quality more realistic this time to increase the sense of immersion and horror.

As of now, HeartBeat Plus Studio has not announced the exact release date or the price of the game. Considering the fourth work of the Paper Bride series will be released during this summer vacation, Dark Notes may have to meet with players later.
