The Casual Game Market Meets Recession This Year

CNGgame released a report on Chinese casual games yesterday, predicting that the market will contract slightly, with the size valued at 34.7 billion CNY in 2021 and 34.4 billion CNY in 2022.

The report also finds that the pandemic has had an adverse impact on the casual game industry, with fewer companies registered in recent years and 46.3% of the existing companies reducing their staff. Meanwhile, the number of casual games is estimated to continue decreasing through 2022, with more games removed from platforms and fewer games released.

In terms of downloads, the number is estimated to be 1.63 billion in 2022, a 3% reduction compared to last year. The number of casual game players is also predicted to see a 1% reduction, to 520 million.
