According to the relevant requirements of epidemic prevention and control, the Copyright Protection Center of China (CPCC) has suspended the receipt of application materials for Software Copyright Registration by mail since November 28, 2022 (subject to the time of sending by the applicant), and the resumption time will be notified through the official website of the China Copyright Protection Center and WeChat public number.
This will be a heavy blow for Chinese game companies and developers, as Software Copyright Registration is the one fundamental cornerstone. As Chinese law required, before any game company officially publishes a game product, it must obtain a registration number, while in order to gain a registration number, the company has to pass the Software Copyright Registration.
In other words, the publication of new games in China is impossible at this time.
