Newzoo, a leading provider of market intelligence for the gaming industry, has released its 2022 Global Games Market Report.

According to the report, globally, the number of players will grow from 2.9 billion in 2020 to 3.6 billion in 2025, a five-year CAGR of +4.3%.

For the first time in the history of Newzoo's coverage of the global gaming market, they are forecasting a year-over-year decline in the gaming market. Newzoo forecasts revenues of $184.4 billion in 2022, a -4.3% year-over-year decline. 2022 is a revised year after two years of high growth, but Newzoo's long-term outlook for the games market remains positive.

In the 2022 market, China and the U.S. took the lion's share. Among them, China accounted for 45.8 billion USD, and the United States 45 billion USD, the two together accounted for 49%.
