The 2023 indiePlay China Independent Game Competition, one of the most influential independent game events in China, is now open for game submissions. Organized by CiGA (China Independent Game Alliance) and supported by major independent publishers and media such as Indienova, IGDA, UGDAP, and many other associations. The event includes a special overseas category for games developed outside of China.
Founded in 2015, CiGA has become one of China's largest independent game organizations. In previous years, the indiePlay awards have uncovered gems such as ICEY, My Time at Portia, WILL: A Wonderful World, and many others. In indiePlay 2022, nearly 400 games from almost 3,000 developers were submitted for the event.

As indiePlay's overseas popularity and influence continue to rise, the number and quality of overseas entries have increased significantly in recent years. Overseas independent game developers also hope to showcase their works to the Chinese market through indiePlay, and have more contact with industry personnel and players in China.

IndiePlay also adjusts its award categories based on the submissions each year. In light of the emergence of a batch of quality VR games in recent years, the 2023 indiePlay China Independent Game Competition will reinstate the Best VR Work award.
In addition, the games nominated for the 2023 indiePlay will be showcased and available for trial play at the WePlay exhibition on November 18-19 at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. Players can explore the IndiePlay zone to find their favorite indie games and interact closely with the developers.

The award ceremony for the 2023 IndiePlay China Independent Game Competition will be held on November 19. CiGA has a tradition of inviting well-known game developers as award presenters. Guests at previous indiePlay events have included Sakaguchi Hironobu, Hideki Kamiya, Jakob Stokalski, Koji Igarashi, and others.
