Blizzard vs. NetEase
According to Zhejiang Court, China, Blizzard Entertainment has recently filed lawsuits against NetEase's Leihuo Technology for copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and unfair competition. The two cases will be heard by the Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court on June 1, and further details are yet to be disclosed.
Previously, NetEase had sued Blizzard Entertainment for 300 million CNY in overdue payments in Shanghai. At the time, Blizzard responded accordingly, saying, "The contract terms that NetEase seems to be dissatisfied with involve standard industry practices, and have been mutually beneficial for both parties in the past few years. Although these ongoing actions have made us feel disappointed and confused, it should be pointed out that our nearly 20 years of operation in China have always been very positive and pleasant, and we will continue to serve local players and protect their rights."
With the unconditional approval of Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard by the Chinese government, Activision Blizzard has also emphasized the company's commitment to the Chinese market, believing that the acquisition can bring more choices and benefits to Chinese players and employees. According to Activision Blizzard, the company will continue to try its best to bring games back to Chinese players.
