Tensions are high at T1's headquarters as police have been stationed near the premises, following death threats aimed at their star League of Legends player, Lee “Faker” Sang-Hyeok.

According to a report from Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency received a notification on August 11 concerning threats made against the LCK veteran. These threats were allegedly made by an anonymous user on the online Korean forum DC Inside on August 10. The user explicitly threatened to go to T1's dormitory and harm Faker with a weapon.

This alarming incident prompted immediate action, resulting in police officers being stationed at T1's offices to ensure Faker's safety. Authorities are already in the process of tracing the internet address to arrest the perpetrator.

T1 has confirmed reporting the incident to the police, with vehicles currently stationed outside their practice facility. A T1 spokesperson expressed that they are investigating and responding with "a very high priority."

In light of the incident, the LCK has pledged to ramp up security for the rest of the playoffs and finals, aligning with recent efforts by South Korean police to tackle mass stabbing attacks and threats posted online.

Faker's threat comes on the heels of his historic victory over KT Rolster in the LCK Summer Split playoffs, ensuring T1 a top-three finish for the split. This win was particularly significant for the League legend, as he was returning fresh from an arm injury.

Faker and T1 are next scheduled to play in the upper bracket final on August 12, facing off against the winner of the semi-final match between Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports. The entire gaming community is rallying behind Faker, eager to see him in action and in safety as he continues his triumphant return.
