Elon Musk, the renowned tech entrepreneur, has recently shared his affinity for video games as a stress-relieving tool and a significant influence on his business decisions, including the high-profile acquisition of Twitter. In a conversation with Lex Fridman, Musk revealed that video games are not just a pastime for him but a critical method for calming his mind.

Describing his experience, Musk stated, "Killing the demons in a video game calms the demons in my mind." He emphasized the various elements of gaming that appeal to him, such as intricate storylines, artistic visuals, and the challenge of puzzle-solving. Video games, for Musk, represent his "primary recreational activity," highlighting their substantial role in his life.

The X owner also delved into the intricacies of gaming, noting the importance of a game being in the 'Goldilocks zone' - neither too easy nor too hard - to be genuinely enjoyable. He praised games for their blend of artistic beauty, engaging narratives, and the satisfaction of solving complex puzzles.

Among his favorite titles, Musk lauded "Elden Ring" from FromSoftware as a possible contender for "the best game ever." He remarked on the game's unique creativity and stunning art, suggesting that playing it on a large-resolution TV enhances the experience. Musk's current gaming endeavor involves defeating the final boss, Lilith, in "Diablo IV," which he likened to overcoming challenges in real life.

Interestingly, Grimes, Musk's former partner, told biographer Walter Isaacson that Musk’s approach to gaming is intense and serious, often mirroring his business style. Musk's love for games like Midjiwan AB's "The Battle of Polytopia" is not only a leisure pursuit but also informs his leadership and strategic skills.

Grimes even hinted that Musk's decision to buy Twitter was influenced by an extended gaming session. Musk's gaming habits underscore the deep connection between his personal interests and professional decisions, shedding light on how subcultures like gaming can significantly influence the tech world.

Musk’s latest venture, his AI startup xAI, is expected to integrate with his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), reflecting his ongoing commitment to blending technology, business, and personal passion.
