Insomniac Reaffirms Wolverine Development After Ransomware Attack
Insomniac Games, the renowned developer behind Marvel's Spider-Man 2, has been the victim of a significant ransomware attack by the group Rhysida. Over 1.3 million files, totaling 1.67 terabytes, were stolen, including sensitive employee data, internal communications, and early development details of the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine game for PlayStation 5.
Despite the cyberattack, Insomniac has issued a statement confirming that the development of Marvel's Wolverine will proceed as planned. The studio expressed both sadness and anger over the breach, emphasizing the emotional impact on its development team and the breach of employees' personal information.

In their statement, Insomniac highlighted their resilience, akin to the character Logan (Wolverine), assuring fans that the game is still in its early production stages and will evolve significantly throughout its development. They also stated their intention to release official information about Marvel's Wolverine when appropriate, appreciating the continued support from their community during this challenging period.
The ransomware group initially demanded a ransom of 50 bitcoins (approximately 2 million USD) from Sony to prevent the release of the hacked data. Sony did not meet these demands, leading to the public release of the data.
Insomniac Games, meanwhile, continues to receive acclaim for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, with a shared universe confirmed between this title and Marvel's Wolverine.
