On June 7th, the National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) released a new announcement with a list of approved games. The list contains 60 video games, including a new project from HoYoverse called 科契尔前线 (meaning “the frontline of Kochere”, and there was no official English title revealed yet).

Normally the NPPA will release a batch of game licenses each month. However, it had ceased releasing game licenses from August 2021 and caused the so-called half-a-year-long “license winter” or “license freeze” until April 2022, when the NPPA re-started the releasing process. However, for some unknown reason, the NPPA did not post any announcement or release any game license approvals in May. This made many game companies worry that the license freeze had returned.

The new licenses released in June have relieved many people in the game industry. On Zhihu.com, we saw some game developers posting jokes like, “Thanks to the NPPA, I was so close to buying an electric scooter and becoming a delivery boy”.
