On July 12th, Douyin, the TikTok in China, uploaded a video about the actions they made and will make to protect minor users during summer vacation.

Notably, Douyin claims the project will forbid minor users to donate to other streamers. If the payer is suspected as a minor by the system, the payment cannot be finished until a real ID verification has been passed. The minor users are also forbidden from hosting live streaming or participating in adults’ live streams.

Additionally, there are other actions in the project to provide appropriate content for minor users. Douyin has removed over 80k harmful content and banned 337 accounts that posted unfriendly content on average per day. They also provided content dedicated to minor users like science lectures and safety tips for summer vacations.

Some people believe it is too strict for minor users and will let them feel stressed, while some other think it is good protection for both the minor users and the content creators.
