Lonely Warrior, the Chinese theme music of League of Legends: Arcane, has become very popular among kids in hospitals, replacing Peppa Pig’s theme song as the most requested.
With a catchy rhythm and lyrics, Lonely Warrior diverts children’s attention when they face pain during treatment. The lyrics in the chorus, where it sings about how the defeated and the damned can be their own hero, seem to resonate with children in pain especially. The pediatrician used the song as a comforting trick to make the process easier. This can be seen in a lot of places in China.
Liu Xiaoyan, a dermatologist at a children's hospital in Beijing, introduced the song during summer vacation when more children are coming for surgeries. “Some children are so scared, and when I asked them what they want to listen to, they said, ‘Lonely Warrior’”.
She said, recently, a 10-year-old kid came to her for an operation to remove his pigmented moles caused by a skin disease, and he was so scared that his lips were twitching and his body trembling.
“After I played Lonely Warrior for him, he relaxed thoroughly and even sang to the rhythm. He got louder and seemed to forget himself totally. It was like magic!”
In the Wuhan Union Hospital, an online video shows a dermatologist playing this song for a child while doing skin surgery for a kid.

In Jieshou, Anhui Province, an anesthetist named Wang Jingjing told local media that she also sang this song to Xiaoyang, a six-year-old patient with broken arms who was preparing for an operation. He reacted happily and peacefully sang the song.
Lonely Warrior is the Chinese theme song for League of Legends: Arcane, an animated TV series for League of Legends. The TV series was released in November 2021.
Even the singer Eason Chan didn’t expect the popularity among kids.
