Sony's PlayStation Architect Masayasu Ito to Retire Next Month

Sony announced today that Sony Interactive Entertainment's representative director and executive vice president Masayasu Ito would retire and depart the company on October 1st.

Lin Tao, SIE's current director and deputy president will replace Ito.

Ito, who is 60 years old, joined Sony in 1986 when he worked on the in-car audio equipment.

In 2000, he moved to the console team and played leading roles in designing PlayStation 3 and 4, the PlayStation VR headset, and the PlayStation 5. His retirement was due to reaching retirement age, a Sony representative confirmed to Bloomberg.
