Top 10 Global Revenues of Popular Mobile Games in August 2022

Sensor Tower data shows that Tencent's Honor of Kings earned more than $222 million in the global App Store and Google Play in August 2022, continuing to top the global mobile game best-selling list. China's iOS market contributed 94% of revenue.

Tencent's PUBG Mobile (combined with Peace Elite's revenue) is No. 2 on the list with $156 million. 60.7% came from the Chinese iOS market, while 8.8% are from the U.S. market.

The other three games in the top five of the best-selling list were Genshin Impact from HoYoverse, Candy Crush Saga from King, and Fate/Grand Order from Sony.

In August 2022, mobile game players worldwide spent $6.6 billion on App Store and Google Play, down 12.4% YoY. The U.S. remains the largest market for mobile gaming revenue, contributing $1.9 billion, or 28% of global revenue. Japan is No. 2 with 20%, followed by China with 17.4%.

Diablo Immortal, co-released by Activision Blizzard and NetEase, earned an estimated $97 million worldwide, up 42% from the previous quarter, ranked 6th on the list. The game launched in China on July 25, and revenue from the Chinese iOS market accounted for nearly 60% of global revenue in August, followed by the U.S. market at 16%.
