miHoYo Surpasses FunPlus to Become January’s Top Overseas Revenue for Chinese Mobile Games, Report

The Version 2.4 Update of Genshin Impact in January boosted the company’s performance.

According to today’s report by mobile data platform App Annie, Chinese mobile game companies have seen a stable market share in their major overseas markets, which are the US, Japan, South Korea, Germany, etc. The top 5 companies that earned a remarkable income in January are miHoYo, FunPlus, Tencent, Lilith Games, and 37Games.

For the champion miHoYo, its major markets include the US, Japan, and South Korea. The "Fleeting Colors in Flight" Version 2.4 Update of Genshin Impact launched in January to great success, bringing miHoYO a 51% increase in overseas revenue compared with the previous month. In December, miHoYo was in second place, between the first place FunPlus, and the third place Tencent.

For FunPlus, the most important markets are the US, Germany, and the UK.

Yostar Games (Producer of Arknights) and Lingxi Games (Producer of Three Kingdoms Tactics) climbed three ranks, taking 12th and 18th places, respectively. With the largest portion of the two’s income coming from the Japanese market.

miHoyo’s Honkai Impact 3rd increased by 11 ranks and entered the top 3 on the list of overseas revenues by game products, as follows:

More specifically, PUBG MOBILE, and State of Survival brought immense revenue for Tencent and FunPlus. While Genshin Impact remains the most popular game, the three games’ rankings on the list by products are the same as that of December.
