On March 10th, a cheap knock-off game was found on the Appstore, trying to pass itself off as the popular Elden Ring game, with very misleading title, description and promotional pictures.

The app released on the same day called itself Eilon Ring, an “Open-word dark action role-playing game” that “kept the essence of souls games”, a “well-received masterpiece”.

The preview pictures of the knock-off game are a combination of Elden Ring, God of War (2018) and some UI designs from other mobile MMORPG.

The game has since been pulled from the Appstore, but we downloaded and tried out the game during the brief period it was availableIt is basically another P2W MMORPG with crumby graphics.

The game lets you choose from one of five classes, but to be honest, players couldn’t see the difference once inside the actual game.

The loading screen of this “Elion Ring” is a bit strange too. Players would board a “Magic Train”, which looks like the Hogwarts Express, and then spend their time doing auto-quests and auto-battles.

The map looks like a typical free-to-play trashy web game, and the first NPC is named “Black, the Smith”, which is somewhat related to the smith character in souls games. This is how far it goes in terms of similarities between this game and the real Elden Ring.

In this day and age, attempting to create such a blatant rip-off game like this is probably not the most brilliant of moves. The developer’s website is hosted on a public blog, and we found a bunch of descriptions for other games, potentially reserved for some of their other projects.

On social media, gamers are furiously mocking and criticizing this game. It was pulled from the Appstore only a few hours after its launch.
