Famous Chinese CG artist Ruan Jia (阮佳) recently spoke up on Weibo, challenging all AI art generators on fast drawing.

Ruan explained the rules of this open contest: He will first provide a rough sketch of Malenia from Elden Ring, with a basic skeleton and shade. All participants can train whatever AI art generator with this sketch for 30 minutes, and generate their own version of the final drawing. Meanwhile, Ruan will also use the 30 minutes to finalize and polish his sketch. When the time is up, he will provide his final draft and compete with all AI works in terms of ONLY details, as it was the only aspect that could be quantified.

Ruan especially clarified that he was not being Anti-Progressivism:

"I am not against the progress of technology (although I think it's currently limited in its capabilities). No one can stop the wheel of history. If it really comes down to it, I will do my best to fight in my profession until the end (assuming it's something that can be replaced by technology). I feel that it is wrong to insult those who fell during this wave of technological disruption, people who have tried their best. It hurts me to see them being humiliated, and you should not take pleasure in their misfortune. This is my stance."
