According to a public document, ACG community Bilibili’s attempt to establish science instrument trademark “Jinkela” was refuted by The China National Intellectual Property Administration.
Jinkela is a fertilizer supplement made in China by a Chinese company named, interestingly, “American Shengdiyage (San Diego)”
The actual fertilizer product was not particularly interesting, but the product’s name, “Jinkela”, meaning “the golden dirt pile,” was quite catchy and hilarious in Chinese. The company also created some strange commercials featuring a Japanese, an African, and an American arguing in an over-the-top manner. It soon became one of the best memes on the Chinese internet.
Bilibili’s attempt to Trademark the meme was largely unpopular. Apart from the obvious reason of a company trying to trademark a meme, many people also argue the meme was originated on ACFun, the rival site of Bilibili.
