Silent Hill fans, rejoice! A new movie based on Konami’s hit video game series is about to make a comeback with its second installment, Silent Hill 2.
According to Deadline's exclusive source, Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson are set to lead the horror reboot as James and his lover, respectively. The story revolves around James’ quest to find his significant other in the iconic town of Silent Hill. He finds himself face-to-face with terrifying figures, old and new, as he delves deeper into the town's darkness. Christophe Gans, who directed the original, is set to return for the reboot. Shooting is set to begin next month in Germany and Eastern Europe. Victor Hadida is producing the film under his banner, Davis Films, with Hassell Free Productions’ Molly Hassell and David Wulf.
The movie will serve as marketing leverage for the new game that Konami unveiled last year. The original film, starring Radha Mitchell and Sean Bean, grossed $100 million in 2006. The dark and haunting love story of James and his sweetheart is expected to both satisfy and surprise enthusiastic fans of Silent Hill.
